Crime in the 1900’s

Hello my name is Nick P. I am in Mr. Sal’s 9th Period class. My topic is crime. In the the 20th Century crime was a widespread. Crime is defined as an act punishable by law. Crime was a huge thing in the the 1900’s. Robbery and murder were two of the biggest examples of crime in the 20th Century.
Since there were immigrants and the jobs paid poorly, people had to find other ways to add to their income such as robbery. Many people tried to fix robbery but you can’t stop robbery. Nothing will ever work. Robbery is always going to be an issue so there is nothing that can really stop it.
As cities grew from urban growth so did the violence. The murder rate increased from 1.2 per 100,000 people in 1900 to 6.8 per 100,000 in 1920. Murder is always going to be an issue throughout the world. People probably tried to stop it but you can’t stop murder. It’s always going to happen.
