Marissa Pd.6

The two wonderful couple Prince William and Catherine Middleton has finally had there royal wedding. Prince William had first proposed to Catherine Middleton in October during a private holiday in Kenya. He had given her his mothers wedding ring. Prince William had first announced to everyone that the wedding will be held in 2011. The royal wedding was held Friday April 29, 2011. The wedding was in the Westminster Abbey at 4:00 am. The wedding had attracted a worldwide TV audience of 2.5 billion people. The wedding had lasted 4 hours. I think it is such an important event because he is going to be king and she would then be queen.

WWI Game Blog

My name is Marissa M. I’m in Mr. Sal’s 20th century period 6 class. The country i was part of was France. We spent most of our economic points on industries, colonies, and navy’s. We made treaties with Germany, United States of America, and Russia. Our country wanted to have more allies than enemies. We had allied with them to make more our countries stronger than each country by themselves. We thought we could of beat the rest of them in war but we had lost because we did not have enough colonies and industries to beat the other two countries.
My country France, did not break any treaties. We had always stuck together. No, I am not pleased with my countries outcome we could have gotten more navy’s and colonies. And maybe we would of had a stronger country. I would of used more of our economic points to get more of the navy’s, colonies, and industries. Yes, I understand that without those things you can lose your economy and your country. And that wars are very important to the world.

Educating Children

Hello my name is Marissa M. and im in Mr. Salvucci’s 20th Century period 6. My project was on educating children and people don’t agree with the way schools are, how far they have to drive to a school, and what the teachers are teaching the students. During the 1800s the laws had started making young people go to school until they had finished 12th grade. In 1870 approximately 20 percent of the people in the United States were illiterate. Because of this the expansion of public education it led to a sharp decline in illiteracy. So people had decided to make schools in the areas they live in which made the public literacy increase. By the 1900s there were 6,000 high schools and by 1920 there were 14,000. In the addition of growing the public education was changing. Philosopher John Dewey had criticized schools for emphasizing memorization of knowledge. He had argued that schools should relate learning to the concerns of the students. But it did not work because people are still learning about history and science. It somewhat worked because we are learning english, other languages, and about our body. There are over a 14,000 schools all over the United States.
