People in World History…

Hello, my name is Jenea M. from Mr. Sal’s 1st period 20th Century Class. The Blog I will be writing about will be on Woodrow Wilson’s life throughout presidency, Archduke Francis Ferdinand, and also on The League of Nations.

Woodrow Wilson was born on December 28th, 1856 in Staunton Virginia. In his earlier years, Wilson began teaching at Bryn Mawr College, before he went off taking a job offer at the faculty of Wesleyan University. The time being there, Woodrow published several books and even got the attention of a national reputation as a political scholar. The way that he came known into presidency, was because of his intelligence, and ways of solving issues, came to the attention of New Jerseys political leaders. During his first term, he passed a tariff and legislation reform. Later on in that term his wife died, WW1 broke out in Europe and things just went down hill from there. In 1918, Wilson suffered a stroke from working to hard. In 1920 he was awarded a Nobel Peace prize, and later on retired from his doings with his new wife Edith Bolling Galt, and died three years later.

Archduke was born in Graz, Austria. Just at 12 years old, he he inherited the title Archduke of Austria. After his mother and father passed, he became heir to the empire in 1899. Going by the rules of Austro Hungarian Empire, he was supposed marry someone of equal rank.

WWI game

Hello, this is Megan Sylvester from Sal’s period 5 class. During the WWI Game I was the empire Great Britain. Throughout the game we got economic points which where our form of buying things such as Colonies, Armies, Navies, and Industries. With our economic points we bought more Navies almost every time. We also bought a few colonies and industries to up our number of economic points each round. We did this so we could get more points towards the amount of Navies we wanted to buy. We bought Navies, for they would protect us if we where to go into battle or to be attacked. We also signed many treaties in the game, so that we could be protected and get help if attacked. Once those empires went into battle or got attack we would leave them, for we knew that they would loose and we didn’t want to loose. When we went into battle though we teamed up with other teams with treaties because we needed their help to win, which ended up working. The outcome was great; we won the world war battle, which is what we intended to do. Throughout the game i would only change one thing, which would be buying for colonies and industries to up our economic points from the very beginning. This would help us get more of the amount of Navies we wanted to keep our empire strong and safe. Through this game I realized that if you want to stay strong you have to give up things to get others in return. Also, you can’t always trust people or rely on others because they can always lie and go behind what that say. The world is a rough place, and you have to fight for yourself.

World War I Game(Austrian Hungarian Empire)

Hello, my name is Chad R and I am from Mr. Sal’s period 9 20th centuries. Our country was the Austrian Hungarian Empire.

How did you spend your economic points, and why?                                                                  Our country spent all of our economic points on Industries and the navy. Reasoning that we spent the points on them is that the navy gave us two defenses and the Industries gave us more points for defense then the army did.

Who did you make treaties with and why? Did you break any treaties and why?                       The Austrian Hungarian Empire made some treaties with great Britten, and with the United States. Promising that when we went to war with other countries, that we would split the profits. No treaties were broken on our part, but war was declared on us by all the other countries at once. Great Britten pulled out all at once. Then the United States crumbled, leaving us the option to combine with them thus, making our country bigger.

Are you pleased with your countries outcome why or why not? What would you do differently and why?                                                                                                                                                   No, I can’t quite say that we were pleased with our outcome, because our country fell and making our country no more. If we could do it all over again I would invest solely on industries and navy.

Did you have a better understanding of how diplomacy works in the world? Why or why not?  Yes, I do have a better understanding on how countries work in the world, because all of the countries started taking sides once the first war broke out and eventually it was one-forth of the room to three-fourths of the room.

The Great War Game

Hi this is Elena H. from Mr. Sals period 6 class. The Great War Game is a game about World War I. You play the game by rounds. At the start of the game you get a number of economic points, and with then you buy armies, navies, industies, or coulenies. And with each industry and coulleny you buy you get another economic point to buy more of what you want. My team and I spent our economic points on navy and industry.
In the game you can also forge treaties with other nations to help you win the war. We as the Austro-Hungary Empire forged treaties with the Ottoman Empire and Great Britian. And, like in real life and warfare, you can break your treaties if your allies annoy you. We didn’t break any treaties but had some broken on us.

WW1 Game

My name is Clarissa and i am in Mr. Sal’s 9th period class.

In the WW1 game my team was the Austrian Hungarian Empire. The first day we made treaties with the United States and Germany. We made treaties with them beacuase we didnt have alot and we also need friends. We and the the other two countries we had treaties with bought some navy and other things with our economic points. We bought navy beacuase it doubles, one navy is really two. Also we bought colonies ,because it got us more money. After we had noticed how much army and navy we all had combined we decided to declare war on France. The United states and Germany backed us up with there army and navy and we defeated France together. Since we defeated France we got all of there colonies and we divided them evenly between us the U.S. and Germany. This all happened in the first day of the game!

The second day wasnt as exciting as the first. We bought some navy and colonies agian. We decided to delclare war on France agian. This time though France was aligned with other countries. Germany did not back us up this time because they thought we would lose. Germany was right France and the colonies they were aligned with had alot more navy and army than we did so we decided to surrender. France took all of our colonies and we gave our money and what was left of our empire to Germany even though they didnt back us up during the war. Germany was our friend and we had a treaty together so thats why we gave them our things.

Some things we could have done different was not surrender and stay in the game. Alought I think we might have lost anyway because half of the class was aligned with each other and we werent in that alignment. The game was fun and Iam pleased with what our country did. The rest of the game we watched as the other countries got bigger and declared war on other countries in the class. In the end, there really wasnt a World War. All of the countires that were aligned with each other won the game.
