tuskegee airmen.

At first the Tuskegee Airmen was a project for the government to see if it would work out. It was for the US Army Air Corps to integrate African American pilots into the Fighter Pilot Program. The Tuskegee Airmen were forced to constantly suffer harassment, prejudice, and a lot to do with the critics back home. They had to take a test to see if they could become a pilot and they passed. When they showed up one of the Sargents made them take the test again which they passed again. The Sargents were really surprised. Then from there on out the pilots only got better.
The attitudes of the other pilots dramatically changed towards the Tuskegee Airmen over the course of their service because they realized that even though the Tuskegee Airmen were African Americans they were still really amazing pilots. At first they criticized the Tuskegee Airmen only because of there race, when in all reality they were just as good of pilots if not better than the whites. The attitudes towards the blacks changed because other pilots realized they were really good at what they were doing and they would be a good contribution to other services if needed.
The legacy left was that skin color doesn’t matter. People said that they don’t want blacks being supporters for the battles in the air. The blacks proved to everyone that they were just as good if not better than the white pilots. Towards the end the white pilots realized that they really needed the black pilots to help them in the air because they had never lost a bomber to an enemy aircraft. The Germans wanted to make sure that their backup was a reliable source to make sure that all the pilots came back alive. This made whites realize that skin color doesn’t matter because anyone can be a pilot if they really set there mind to it.

Tuskegee Airmen

Hello my name is Shane M. from Mr.Sal’s 6th period World history class
The Tuskegee Airmen came to be because the United States was using them as an experiment. Before them, there were no African-American pilots in the air force. All of the Tuskegee Airmen scored extremely high on the tests to get into the training facility and at the training facility they learned just as fast as the white pilots did.

When the Tuskegee Airmen got to actually start escorting bombers the white pilots disrespected them when they found out that they were black. Over time though whenever the Tuskegee Airmen proved that they were some of the best pilots the white bombers actually requested for the Tuskegee Airmen to escort them to Berlin.

What color are the pilots in the airforce? Untill the Tuskegee Airmen, all the pilots that were in the USA’s airforce were white. Now there is a group of trained African- American pilot’s that have made history for all African-Americans. Thus this has made a legacy created by the Airmen, for all African-American’s there is still nationalism for their country. All African-American’s are not treated as they are today as they were back then, but because of the tuskegee Airmen they gained alittle more respect than they had.

The Tuskegee Airmen formed when African Americans wanted to be pilots for the United States Army. They wanted to be pilots because they were from the United States and they wanted to serve their homeland like every other pilot. The African Americans went to training to learn basic flying maneuvers. When the African Americans became certified war pilots, they were called the “Tuskegee Airmen” due to them becoming pilots while segregation being present. After they became certified war pilots, they were sent to war with people who were racist and did not appreciate the African Americans’ service. Through out the war, attitudes changed towards the African race when one of the Tuskegee Airmen fought with an American bomber against the enemies. Then after this, the white American pilots wanted to be escorted by the “Tuskegee Airmen” because they realized that the “Tuskegee Airmen” are as equal as the white American pilots. The legacy that was created was the African Americans overcoming segregation and people realizing that Africans Americans are the same as white Americans. After this people saw Africans Americans just as equal as white Americans.

Tuskegee Airmen

Hey my name is Chris in Mr. Sal’s/ Miss Byers’s class period 9. Years before the Tuskegee Airmen there was only white american pilots. After WWI African Americans tried to become pilots but where not accepted in. The Tuskegee Airmen came together to become the first African Americans to be pilots. They cam together to see if African Americans can fly planes in battle. They did become pilots but some did not. Some of the pilots dead in training or in during war. Some of their attitudes changed when others in training deaded or left , so some changed because they where scaried. In war men dead and the men who where close to them changed a lot. Also some of the men changed when they won some part of the war. When some one got a medal they changed big time because they earned something for doing something right. I think since the airmen achevied so much people started thinking different about them. That they are good or can fly a plane or trustworth. After the Tuskegee Airmen there are many African American pilots.

The Tuskegee Airmen project was a very successful achievement for African Americans during WWII. It allowed African Americans to have the chance to prove that they are as efficient as white pilots in combat. During this period in the Tuskegee air base, African Americans were being trained to prove that they were as capable as the white pilots to go into air combat. The Tuskegee Airmen came from all over the United States, trained and fought hard, defined all odds, and were very successful.
Before the Tuskegee Airmen colored people were not allowed to fly airplanes in battle. On April 3, 1939 congress passed the Appropriations Bill Public Law 18. This made it possible for colored people to be trained to be pilots in war. The war department also made it possible for funding to go to the training of the Tuskegee airmen. In 1940 there was only 140 African American pilots in the United States. They had to take many tests to begin their training. They were sometimes forced to take several tests that were unnecessary. They would only choose the black pilots with a certain level of flight experience or higher education. This was intended to exclude most applicants. It was done so that only the best African American pilots would be accepted so it would be a success. The Tuskegee Airmen really started to look like it was going to be a success when the first lady flew with one of the black pilots. The beginning program was ultimately a huge success for the United States.
It was a very hard travel for the Tuskegee airman. That had a long road ahead of them once that got to training. There were many airmen that were involved at the beginning and they gradually got less. They always did the best at flying and never got the chance to see any action in the air. They always had very good attitudes and showed a lot of respect towards there instructors. There were many white instructors and only a couple African. The Tuskegee Airmen had to go through a lot with racist comments. Some of them couldn’t handle all of that presser and the committed suicide. It took till close to the end of the war till the whites finally realized that the Africans were actually good at flying and could help them in many different ways. They only reason the whites thought they needed the Africans help was because the Africans showed up while they were patrolling and saved the captain of the whites. The Africans got there chance to shine and they did which made them just as equal as the whites.
A very positive legacy was created by the Tuskegee airmen during World War II. Over time they began to show white Americans that they really cared about America, and were willing to die for it. At first, many white people had their doubts that African Americans could become competent pilots. Even when the odds were against them, the African American pilots never gave up, and were determined to learn, and better their skills so they could enter combat. In fact, the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing never lost a single bomber while protecting them. The white bomber pilots actually requested the African American pilots to protect them in some cases because they were very consistent. The African Americans started becoming recognized, and awarded medals during the war. In the long run, this really helped show the white Americans that the Tuskegee airmen were good pilots and deserve to be pilots. They started to become recognized and this helped them in being treated as the white Americans, which helped lessen segregation. All in all, the Tuskegee Airmen were a very important step towards ending racism in America, and showing that African Americans should be treated equally.
To sum it up, Tuskegee Airman had a titanic role during WWII. Tuskegee helped the advancement of African Americans to become equal in society. This also helped the army realize that African Americans can fly planes just as well as white people. The Tuskegee Airman was a complete success and will forever be remembered as an important event in American history.
