Titans Blog [number eleven]

Coach Yoast was told that he would be put into the Hall of Fame, but only after the Titans’ lost their game. Them saying that was implying that they wanted Coach Boone gone. The only reason they did not want Coach Boone around was because of his color and Yoast obviously did not tthink it was fair and did what he wanted. By not “throwing” the game and getting Boone fired showed that Yoast was a very good person. And also, because of the fact that he gave up being in the Hall of Fame we realized how much of a self-less person he was.

Cody Question number 11

When Coach Yoast lost the Hall of Fame he was Heartbroken but when he finally thought it over he really didn’t care about it. He started to think about the team and wanted to go to the championship and to be all together. When he told his daughter about it she was devastated and she started to cry about it because that is probably the only thing she dreamed about. the leadership demonstrates that Blacks and whites should be friends because their is no way that blacks and whites should be fighting over stupid and dumb things. I think that Coach Yoast should be presented the Hall of Fame he shouldn’t be stripped of his Hall of Fame nomination just because the head coach is black or just because he is not the head coach.

Remember the Titans- Coach Yoast

Coach Yoast- Losing the Hall of Fame

Coach Yoast, the head coach of the Titan’s football team lost his spot in the hall of fame. Coach Yoast lost position of head coach after Herman Boone took his place. Yoast was extremely upset, he lost his spot to an African American and refused the position of assistant coach, Boone offered him. After all of his old players refuse to let Yoast go, he decides to take up Boone on his offer. At first Yoast was mad and didn’t want anything to do with Boone or any of the colored players. However, after realizing that they were no different then everyone else, knowing that in order for the football team to do good and his players to get scholarships, he starts building a relationship with everyone on the team including coach Boone. They all work together and go through struggles and wins. They win every game they play with flying colors. Until one day the football administration informs coach Yoast that he is to lose the rest of his games and next year they will send Boone away and put him back in his head position. Yoast knows that the whole team has been through far too much to give it all away and coach Boone is what the teams needs. Yoast refuses the offer and threatens that he will tell the press if they keep up with this behavior. That is when they tell Yoast he just lost his place in the Virginia High School Hall of Fame. Coach Yoast is very upset because he worked his whole life for the Hall of Fame but he doesn’t let that keep him from staying with his team. Coach Yoast shows leadership quality by refusing the offer of head coach and sending coach Boone away. He cared more about his teams future and putting an end to racial tension than the Hall of Fame spot he always wanted. Yoast worked hard and was put through a lot from the whole town but that never stopped him from coaching his team. He showed how blacks and whites are the same and how important it is that people realize that. I look up to coach Yoast and his ability to never let people bring him down.

Remember the Titans – Racial Tensions Today

Racial tension is almost nonexistent among the younger generations of today, save for the relatively small crowd who may have developed a racial mindset as a result of their childhood or upbringing – parents may or may not have taught their children racial biases on purpose. Racial profiling, however, still occurs, just as many stereotypes do, for example, the generalization that all Asians are good at math, or that all Italians have big noses. In our school specifically, I can’t say that I’ve ever seen any acts of hate against a person of a particular race. Of course, when peoples’ anger flares up, they can at times bring up race in an argument. But it is important to remember that things were much, much worse fifty or so years ago when desegregation had first begun than they are today, as students of all colors, shapes, and sizes attend school together without race being an issue.
