Hi, this is Marissa G from period 6 20th century. The Royal Wedding took place in England on April 29th, 2011. This was such a big deal because it was a wedding between Prince William and Catherine Middleton. They are said to be the next in line for the throne if the Queen refuses to give it to Prince Charles, her own son. I think the US took a liking to this wedding because of how amazing and big everything was. It was traditional and everyone in England had the day off as if it was a holiday. I found it interesting on how traditional everything was and how they have been doing these traditions for years.

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African American men wanting to be pilot’s for World War II. It first started out as an experimental assignment to see if an African American man could become a successful pilot. Most thought this project would fail because they didn’t believe African Americans were capable of doing the same things a white American man could do. This prediction soon changed after their training and the men proved to be as could, or even better then some of the white pilots. Unfortunately, even after all the hard work and effort put in by the Tuskegee Airmen, many people still doubted their piloting  skills. Not until after the Tuskegee Airmen were put into war action and given a chance to prove themselves, did the people start realizing how good they really were. While escorting, they did not lose one bomber plane against an enemy plane during the war.

These men started a legacy by proving they can be just as good as the white pilots. They earned metals that African American men usually wouldn’t be presented with. They earned well deserved respect from their country and its people.

Hi, this is Marissa G. from period 6 20th century. This game showed us how the empires interacted with each other. In the game, I was part of the USA.

Mostly, we spent our economic points on the navy and the colonies. We did this because we wanted to build up our power so if put into war, we would win against the other team/empire. This proved smart because we won every battle we were put into. We took down Austria/Hungary, the Ottoman empire, and Great Britain with little effort.

We first had treaties with the Ottoman Empire and Germany, but we soon got rid the Ottoman Empire when the had teamed up with Austria/Hungary. We proceeded to make treaties with Russia and France. USA, Russia, France, and Germany became the power team of the class.

I am pleased with our countries outcome because we ended up being on of the most powerful countries. We also made very good choices choosing our allies. If we continued to  play the game, we would have possibly taken over every country. The only difference I would make is making a treaty with the Ottoman empire in the first place.

I do understand a little more about diplomacy works in the world. The big guys usually get what they want. It showed me how power can change how the world works.

Hi, my name is Marissa G. from 20th Century period 6. In the 1900’s, the living conditions of the urban areas were very unhealthy and not particularly safe. Because of the growing population of the cities, the amount of space for living was very limited.The space was so limited that the houses and buildings were built right next to each other. The ventilation system caused people to become ill and diseased because of how close they were and the lack of care given to it.

Jane Addams helped by making a community center and nursery. She would watch people’s children so they could go to work without leaving their young home alone like many would have had to before. Although this didn’t help with the increasing about of people living in the city, it helped by giving people a place to go besides their own homes. Eventually they had to make more city space, places to live, and take care of living conditions more carefully.

Being in Mr.Salvucci’s class I had noticed that there is a big learning curve. With all of this technology comes new opertinitys, new hassles, and new expectations. I am hoping this year to learn and fully understand to post a blog and use an Ipod Touch. I believe both of these skills will be useful to me in the future for a job or even possibly my career. I would like to learn about the Hollacaust and The Great Depression because I know little about each subject and would like to learn more. I want to able to fully understand these events in history because they are both very important.
