The Royal Wedding

Hello, this is Tori G from 6th period 20th century. The Royal Wedding was for Groom William, and Bride Kate. William is a prince. England is where all of this took place. This wedding was very exciting because after his father is king, Prince William will take the throne. The wedding was held in the Westminister Abbey.  American’s were very excited about this wedding for many reasons. One reason is how extravagant and ostentatious the wedding was. From her florid gown, to the enourmous outcome; the wedding was top notch. I feel that The wedding was beautiful and a big influence on everyone. As far as publicity they got it. I also feel like there are more important things than a person’s wedding though. In contempt of bigger things happening, whether it be war or other causes. Even though the Royal Wedding is irrelevent to most peoples lives; it was a nice sight to see and share with them.

Tuskegee Airmen

Hello, my name is Tori G. and I am from Mr. Sal’s period 6 class. The Tuskeegee Airmen were a bunch of herioic african american men chasing their dream. Though they had a lot more pressure and had to work harder, they really pulled through. They came from many different city’s and areas. They all had the same dream, to become part of The United States Air force.

It started at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. There were 996 original airmen. They were a big mix of Pilots, Navigators, and bombardiers. They trained hard and fought the troubles in the sky and the racist skeptics on the ground. When Their training was over they were stationed over North Africa and Europe. Nobody expected what came next.

They were brilliant. Something about the Tuskegee Airmen was they never lost a bomber during some 200 escort missions. Everyone started seeing what the Tuskegee Airmen were all about. The white  men who were racist towards the Airmen started requesting the Black men to escort them in missions. They sank a German Destroyer with only their machine guns. These guys were good and everyone was aware.

The Myth was Conquered. African Americans could fly, be in war, and be the best around. They won more than 850 metals, eight Purple Hearts, 14 bronze stars, and three unit citations. People were looking at African Americans in a new light. It’s a big change that would affect war forever.

WWI Game Blog Post

Hi, this is Tori G. from Mr. Sals period 6 class. I was apart of the group that had Germany. This game was a small demonstratin of world war 1, and it was very fun and amusing.

We spent most of our economic points on our Navy, we wanted enough navy to take over other countries. We then made treaties with the United states, France, and Russia. We all tried to take over Austria. Never did we break any treaties.

We didn’t end up to be one of the best but I am very pleased with how it all turned out. Even though we did end up getting defeated. If i could change some things i would. I would spend less time finding allies and more time getting navys, and colonies.

No, i don’t have a better understanding of diplomacy. The game sort of confused me. With a little more practice i think i would understand it better.

Child labor

Hello, my name is Tori g. I am from Sal’s period 6 class. The 1900’s contained lots of struggles and hardships. Child labor was a major problem during this time. Child Labor put kids in bad situations, made them work in harsh conditions, and ruined there childhood.

Child labor used all kinds of children. Women didn’t have much of a say but they did not agree with it. The children were forced to work in factories and all kinds of places. There was one leader who was fully against this. Florence Kelley, a women who fought the battle of child labor. She described that the children were put in harm and danger, suffering short-term and long-term affects. Children suffered nicotine poisoning from working in the tobacco industry. They also suffered long-term back and vertebre problems. This also never let them be kids. They had to grow up and work and that is depressing.

Child labor was a terrible idea. It took away a Childs innocence. Kelley continued her battle. She set up boycotts and protests. Finally in 1938 a law was passed for fair labor standords. This saved many children from hardwork and bad health.

My name is Tori G and I am in period 6 20th century class. One thing in history that sparks my interest is the great depression. My grandmother tells me a little bit about it but she was very vague. I would also like to learn abuout the struggles the holocaust victims went through. They all seem so strong and courageous to endure that and I would like to know more about it in detail. I am not very pretty terrible with technology. I would like to know more about the smart board. I want to know how that pen type thing works with it. Knowing the basics of the iPod is something else I want to know. I hope to learn a lot in this class.
