In the Decleration of Independents there are key arguments about the speration of Great Britian and of the colonies. There are key arguments like the king did not allow the Governers to pass laws which are nessececray for society to keep peace and make rules to follow. The king did not allow trade with other country’s which would cause them to no longer make any money from goods to sell and to buy any goods that would come from other countrys, the king also took away some of the colonys most important laws.
Because the king told the governers to not pass laws that would help the early America, they had to make and pass laws that would benefit the king and only the king.
The king cut off trade with the colonies so that they would not be able to make and money from goods that they would trade with other country’s and would not be able to buy anything from other country’s that helps benefit daily life.
The king also took away some of the most important laws that help form the rules of daily life and that caused many people to get even more frustrated with the king.
These are some of the many key arguments that Thomas Jefferson made for the separation of the colonies and the king.
A fiscal crisis is also known as a budget crisis. In my opinion, this is pretty stupid. This means that there is no budget that anyone can agree on. So, what there won’t be money for the states? I believe, that the prior presidents and senates are to blame for the fiscal crisis. The republicans are back in control and Obama is massively over spending. Canter promised to “play hard ball” with the White House and Obama. They are trying to prepare the republicans for the ways of Washington. They are trying to get tax, medicare, and health insurance lowered. If spending does not get cut, the republicans will push the issue. The republicans feel it can trigger a depression. Canter’s threat was pretty serious. The markets reacted horribly, it was almost like they didn’t react at all. All the talks were kept secret. President and speaker tried to work things out, but they could not find something to agree on. The debts just keep on rising.
Yes, I would consider being a telecommuter if it was offered in my career choice. I would make this decision because, it would save me money. Instead of eating out everyday, I could bring my own lunch. I wouldn’t have as far of a drive, which would save me money on gas. Which is an option, considering how high gas prices are. Also, another benefit to telecommuting is that I get weekends and holidays off. Therefore, telecommuting will save me both time and money.
The stocks that I bought are, Buffalo Wild Wings, Fed Ex, Priceline, and Apple. I bought them because they are big profit companies and make money. At first, I wasn’t making any money, I was in the negatives for a while, now I’m in the positives, gaining money!
I plan on using my phone and iPad to to play this game.
At first my thoughts about this game were that it is really dumb because, I didn’t understand it and thought it was pointless. Now, its beginning to make a little more sense to me. I’m beginning to understand the concept of this. I think the concept of this game is to, learn that you may or may not make money on everything you buy or sell.
My portfolio is doing pretty good now, I am gaining money. I am gaining money very slowly, but my gains are going up. At first, I was not gaining any money. I was not gaining anything for probably about the first week.
I have pretty much all my money left. I have only bought 4 stocks.
I have not made any trades this week, or any week at all.
We started the Student Stock Trader Game in class on Monday, January 27, 2014. I used some credits I had in the Edmodo App Store to purchase a license of the game to use with my senior Econ/POD classes. Without much research I made a couple initial purchases, more to test out the system than to make serious investments. My results are varied, showing how a lack of research can be harmful.
My initial purchases were PGH, Pengrowth Energy Corporation, (USA), you can find more information on the stock by clicking here. I own shares of this company in the real world, so I grabbed some shares in the class game. DOM, Dominion Resources Black Warrior Trust, which was on the highest change board that day. You can find information on the company by clicking here. PNRA, Panera Bread was the third stock that was purchased, I also own shares of this stock in the real world. You can find information on this stock by clicking here. The last stock I purchased was WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment. I do not watch the product on television anymore, but they recently launched their own Internet-based network where you can purchase access to all past events and any upcoming ones for $9.99 a month. At least in the short run, this move should bump up their stock prices considerably. You can check out more on WWE stock by clicking here.
Our game only runs for 56 days, so I am investing from a different mindset than I would if I was thinking long term. The fact that it is not my real money also allows me the freedom to invest in riskier stocks than usual, however my pride and not wanting to come in last is prohibiting me from going “all in” with a full risk portfolio.
Before I watched the video on the old west in class I thought it was more about cowboys, bank robberies, and train jacking. The cowboys I thought about were Billy The Kid, Jesse James, and Buffalo Bill. I thought their were a lot of bank robberies because of Hollywood’s movies about the old west. The train jacking I thought about a lot was the ones that the banditos rode up on horseback and took the train over and then took all the money and threw all the people off.
My ideas of the old west weren’t as accurate as what I thought they were going to be. The three reasons that held me back from this was that there was Indians already in the west that I never even thought about, the land in the west was supposed to be farmed, and the movies set the Indians out to be the bad guys and the whites were always the victims. I never really thought about the Indians because I never thought about the Indians living in the west . I didn’t think of the land being farmed because I thought it was boring for the west because I thought of all the gun fights and everything of that nature. The whites were always set out to be the victims and that wasn’t true to be perfectly honest because they were taking the Indians land that they practically gave to the whites and how do they repay the Indians by giving them small pox victims blankets and getting dogs to ripe them apart.
The events that were mentioned in the movie that I thought was very strange was the Alamo and the custard war. Mexico was forced to fight for there land at the Alamo. We met them on Mexican land and we invaded them to take over the Alamo. Then Texas legalized slavery afterwards so it didn’t help the cause. The Custard war was mentioned and I thought it was a very interesting battle. The custard war was fought against the Indians and then custard failed to take the land from the Indians. The Indians then were always protected in their land.
This video did make me doubt some other things that I have learned in the past years because I never thought of the west as farming and gun fighting as dirty as it was . The gun fighting was so dirty back then the movies showed that at high noon the men would meet and shoot but gun fighting back then it was getting shot in the back and so on and so forth.
This year I am hoping to get more of my students to participate on a global scale when it comes to collaboration. They were encouraged to participate in the Edublogs Student Blogging Challenge for enrichment points this fall. I have a number of students who were interested in signing up for the challenge. Since this specific blogging challenge does not really fall within my social studies curriculum I am making participation voluntary for the students. They can do as many or as few assignments as they have time for and are comfortable with.
I am using Edmodo as my online classroom platform, with a group set up specifically for Enrichment Assignments. Each challenge will be rolled out as an optional assignment with in the group. Each week will also have an optional assignment to go out and comment on another students’ blog from the list of participants. The hope is that once students get into the habit of commenting and communicating with others we can expand naturally into collaboration. A list of student participants can be found here.
I will list and link my students’ blogs to a separate page as they begin their journey into global collaboration. I am hoping that the activities give them confidence and interest to become active and responsible digital citizens.
