Tuskegee Airmen

Hello, my name is Tori G. and I am from Mr. Sal’s period 6 class. The Tuskeegee Airmen were a bunch of herioic african american men chasing their dream. Though they had a lot more pressure and had to work harder, they really pulled through. They came from many different city’s and areas. They all had the same dream, to become part of The United States Air force.

It started at the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. There were 996 original airmen. They were a big mix of Pilots, Navigators, and bombardiers. They trained hard and fought the troubles in the sky and the racist skeptics on the ground. When Their training was over they were stationed over North Africa and Europe. Nobody expected what came next.

They were brilliant. Something about the Tuskegee Airmen was they never lost a bomber during some 200 escort missions. Everyone started seeing what the Tuskegee Airmen were all about. The white  men who were racist towards the Airmen started requesting the Black men to escort them in missions. They sank a German Destroyer with only their machine guns. These guys were good and everyone was aware.

The Myth was Conquered. African Americans could fly, be in war, and be the best around. They won more than 850 metals, eight Purple Hearts, 14 bronze stars, and three unit citations. People were looking at African Americans in a new light. It’s a big change that would affect war forever.

Tuskegee Airmen

Hello my name is Shane M. form Mr. Sal’s 6th period worlf history class.
The Tuskegee Airmen came to be because the United States was using them as an experiment. Before them, there were no African-American pilots in the air force. All of the Tuskegee Airmen scored extremely high on the tests to get into the training facility and at the training facility they learned just as fast as the white pilots did.

When the Tuskegee Airmen got to actually start escorting bombers the white pilots disrespected them when they found out that they were black. Over time though whenever the Tuskegee Airmen proved that they were some of the best pilots the white bombers actually requested for the Tuskegee Airmen to escort them to Berlin.

What color are the pilots in the airforce? Untill the Tuskegee Airmen, all the pilots that were in the USA’s airforce were white. Now there is a group of trained African- American pilot’s that have made history for all African-Americans. Thus this has made a legacy created by the Airmen, for all African-American’s there is still nationalism for their country. All African-American’s are not treated as they are today as they were back then, but because of the tuskegee Airmen they gained alittle more respect than they had.

The Tuskegee Airmen came to be as a controlled experiment for the American Military. The purpose of this experiment was to see if colored pilots could serve as well as the current white pilots. The African American pilots in training were assigned to the training institute in Tuskegee, Alabama to begin the experiment. They were trained at a higher standards that the white pilots, which was seen unfair disadvantage. They just wanted fair treatment, but this is difficult when blacks are still seen as different from whites.

In the beginning the pilots in training were not seen as a good idea by many. They were thought too uneducated to understand the complexities of flying a plane. They were doubted until they saved a bomber plane that was not assigned to them who had lost their escorts. Eventually they were seen as good, if not better than, the white pilots.

They were soon not assigned, but requested for bomber escort by white pilots who saw them as their best chance at protection. The Tuskegee Airmen never lost a single bomber plane to enemies when they flew as the escort team. This made many change views on the capabilities of African Americans. They realized that they are just as capable of serving their country as whites. Their legacy lives on because they were great airmen in WWII.

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African American men wanting to be pilot’s for World War II. It first started out as an experimental assignment to see if an African American man could become a successful pilot. Most thought this project would fail because they didn’t believe African Americans were capable of doing the same things a white American man could do. This prediction soon changed after their training and the men proved to be as could, or even better then some of the white pilots. Unfortunately, even after all the hard work and effort put in by the Tuskegee Airmen, many people still doubted their piloting  skills. Not until after the Tuskegee Airmen were put into war action and given a chance to prove themselves, did the people start realizing how good they really were. While escorting, they did not lose one bomber plane against an enemy plane during the war.

These men started a legacy by proving they can be just as good as the white pilots. They earned metals that African American men usually wouldn’t be presented with. They earned well deserved respect from their country and its people.

The Tuskegee Airmen formed when African Americans wanted to be pilots for the United States Army. They wanted to be pilots because they were from the United States and they wanted to serve their homeland like every other pilot. The African Americans went to training to learn basic flying maneuvers. When the African Americans became certified war pilots, they were called the “Tuskegee Airmen” due to them becoming pilots while segregation being present. After they became certified war pilots, they were sent to war with people who were racist and did not appreciate the African Americans’ service. Through out the war, attitudes changed towards the African race when one of the Tuskegee Airmen fought with an American bomber against the enemies. Then after this, the white American pilots wanted to be escorted by the “Tuskegee Airmen” because they realized that the “Tuskegee Airmen” are as equal as the white American pilots. The legacy that was created was the African Americans overcoming segregation and people realizing that Africans Americans are the same as white Americans. After this people saw Africans Americans just as equal as white Americans.

Tuskegee Airmen.

Hello, I am Kelly E from Mr.Sal’s period six class.

The Tuskegee Airmen were a large group of well educated African Americans who were part of a experiment to see if African Americans could fly. This was a large leap for African Americans during this time. The men were brought to Tuskegee, Alabama to start their training for flying. All of the men worked hard towards their goals of becoming pilots for America in the war. Some walked out, others had flying accidents, but the ones who got past the training got to go to war.

They were stationed in North Africa first doing recon and bombing. The white man of America did not want the Tuskegee Airmen in their war, and said they had many offenses. The people who were in charge of the men defended them from this false accusation, and kept them in the war.

After a while the Men were redeployed into the European theater. This was their chance to prove African Americans could do just as well as white pilots. When on a mission they saved a bomber that was in distress, and this proved they could do more than just bomb. They could escort bombers.

The white men in the air force were not happy about the Tuskegee flying with them. They said the bomber they saved was just a chance thing, and it was obviously not them who did it. The Tuskegee ignored this, and waited for a chance to prove themselves to show what they were really made of.

In time the Tuskegee were asked to escort bombers. They protected every bomber they were assigned to, and they never lost a single bomber to enemy planes. This changed the view of the people who flew with the Tuskegee Airmen. The men won many metals for their bravery during the war. This helped the African Americans at home by giving them hope of something more for their people.
