Titans Blog [number fourteen]

When Jullius Campbell finally makes it to the hospital after Gary Bertier’s accident everyone is near tears. He speaks with Mrs. Bertier and starts to cry… Mrs. Bertier tells him that “those tears are not gonna make my boy walk again.” By saying that, she means that she wants Julius to stay strong. She does not want him crying if it is not going to help. She needs him to be strong because he can act as a role model and maybe others will stay strong too.

Anthem Essay #3

“To fully control a man, dictators must not only enslave his body, but also destroy his mind.” This quote outlooks the whole novel, Anthem. It begins at a point in time, where the people do not receive the ability by the society to be their own person. The society takes control of man by turning the word “I” into “We” and the word “Man” into “Men”. They must think of themselves as a whole, or punishment is assigned.
In the novel, the society is the highest rank of worship. They assign the work, and they are the teachers. The only problem with this is they teach the people so little and tell them so many lies to manipulate their ability to think for themselves. When you are taught a certain way as a child, it reflects how you make your decisions and how you live. By doing this, it enslaves their body, because it is the way they were taught, and it destroys their mind, because they were not taught to think differently. If they do not know the variety of ways to live, how can they change the way they live? It’s all based on what they are taught and how.
Also, the problem with the society is not only because they lie, but because they grasp the idea that what all men does not know, does not exist. The society is very confusing. They mention a law that states, (page 19 of Anthem) “We are one in all and all in one. There are not men but only the great WE, One, indivisible and forever.” This should mean if one crosses a discovery, they all have, but the society does not want to think that way. What the society says goes, because they believe they know what is right for the people, when all they really want is to be in charge. They stretch the laws, to minimize the actions of the people.
Another way the society seeks to take control of man is by taking this giant world and turning it into something very small and scary. They believe if they minimize the space and make the world seem like a scary place around them, it would trap the people into thinking where they live is a fantastic place. Like, in the novel, they mention the uncharted forest. The society has taught the people about the “beasts” that live upon it. That alone has trapped a very good percent of the people in this inhumanely place. The society knows this place hardly makes sense, but the people do not know otherwise. They are turning these people into slaves, even though the people do not know it.
One of the last ways the society seeks to control man is by doing all they can to keep the people from discovering the truth. If one finds they have been lying, it is all over. They might be the leaders, but if it is the society against the people, they cannot win. Like Equality 7-2521 and Liberty 5-3000, in the novel Anthem, the people could be free of the society and free to break all the laws. Eventually, they would know all the society’s secrets and know how big the world actually is. The society does not want this to happen, so they do what they can to prevent it.
Whether it is how the society manipulates, or how they lie, they only aim at controlling man. They seek to accomplish this throughout the novel, Anthem. They do this by changing how the world is seen through the eyes of the people, teaching the people in their own ways to manipulate their mind, and keeping them far away from the truth.

Is it all really worth it? A reaction to Osama’s death.

Hello, it’s me Josh B again from Mr. Sal’s ECON/POD class. Today I’m blogging about the recent breaking news of Osama bin Laden’s death and the possible repercussions of this endeavor. Even though the terrorist leader Osama has been in power for over 10 years and has been using his money and influence to start guerilla warfare with the American troops in the Middle East, is it all really worth it? The terrorist leader is an unset factor in this war, the leader can easily be changed to another person, and they may be angry that we killed their leader already. The lack of money on the other hand may cause the terrorist group to attack citizens in their own country for ransom money or even to kill them for their assets. In total I think the anger of the terrorists along with the possible war with Pakistan for intruding on their land without their consent.

Osama Bin Laden’s Annihilation!! USA USA USA!!!

Hello my name is Nick P. and I’m in Mr Sals period 9 class for 20th Century. On May 1st Osama Bin Laden was captured and killed by a group of 20-25 Navy SEALS. This was first confirmed by CNN at about 10:30 p.m. on May 1st. At this time President Barack Obama was suppose to make an annoucement about it but it was delayed until 11:30 p.m. that night. This is a great accomplishment for the United States of America because Osama has been hiding for 10 years because of 9-11. This is going to effect everybody now because we have just killed Al-Qaeda’s leader. We have to keep one eye open all the time now since this happened.

The wedding was in the Westminster Abbey at 4:00 am. The wedding had attracted a worldwide TV audience of 2.5 billion people. The wedding had lasted 4 hours. Veronica pd.6 “Osama Bin Laden’s Death”

On May 1st 2011, Osama Bin Laden was shot and killed. Bin Laden was found in Pakistan living in a safe house for six years. U.S. Helicopters swarmed surrounding the house telling Bin Laden to evacuate. Bin Laden and his three bodygaurds resisted and were shot, one of which was Bin Ladens son. Many American people feel much safer with Bin Laden dead, but i feel the same as when he was alive. Just because one leader is dead don’t mean that another will not take over his job. Therefore, eventully a retaliation will occur.

royal Wedding and osama bin laden

I think that most of the news reports are going to be on both of  the events. There is not going to be that one gets more. Both event are big news, they both will get equal shares of the news reports. the royal wedding and the death are two big things that happened in our world. Two of the most imporent people got married. The death of the man that we have been trying to get for 10 years. we finally got him and now our would may be better with the two equaling each other out, there was something good to make the bad or good thing of Osama bin laden death seem so much better.
